As the person in charge of publications on the Mysterium Committee, I would like to offer a few exciting updates on our print materials.

As some of you may know, Mysterium uses a service called MagCloud to provide on-demand printing for our publications. This helps up keep costs down, and provides you with excellent, magazine-quality books which can be ordered at any time. By lucky coincidence, MagCloud’s birthday is close to Mysterium, and as a result, we get to pass along some special MagCloud deals each year to coincide with our little gathering. Until July 31st, all Mysterium publication purchases are 25% off!

MagCloud has also just come out of beta, and as part of that move, they are now offering shipping to any international location. If you live outside of the US, UK, and Canada and were interested in buying a copy of the Mysterium 2009 Convention Book or the Mysterium Cookbook, you can now order away!

All Mysterium print publications are available through our MagCloud store. All proceeds from sales go toward funding the convention.

We’re also thrilled to announce that as a result of our partnership with MagCloud, the Mysterium Convention Book is now available for free on Apple’s iPad! Just download MagCloud’s free iPad application, and search the magazine store for Mysterium!

The Mysterium 2010 Convention Book will be available later this week for purchase or download. All attendees who pre-registered for Mysterium will receive a copy of the Convention Book for free as part of their registration. If you are planning to attend but did not get an opportunity to pre-register, keep an eye on the Mysterium store at MagCloud for a chance to buy a copy before you leave! If you are unable to attend, you are still welcome to order a copy of the book for yourself. If you are attending Mysterium 2010 and would like to purchase a t-shirt to pick up at the convention, please get your order in by the end of the day tomorrow, July 20th! These are high-quality screen-printed t-shirts made by the same company that printed our 2009 shirts last year. In order to get our purchase in with enough time to get the shirts to the convention, we need your orders ASAP!

You can also order a shirt even if you do not plan on attending. Any shirts ordered by non-attendees will be mailed out after the convention. To ensure that your order is part of our pre-Mysterium run, please also get your order in by tomorrow night, July 20th!

The date for logo submission for this year Mysterium has been extended for one week only!

An extension until June 14th is in effect for the submission of logos to be considered for this year’s Mysterium 2010 in Minneapolis.

As before, we are incorporating Kadish Tolesa into our decorations’ theme this year. You can use this theme as a source of inspiration for your logo designs and convention book submissions if you choose, but doing so will not be a requirement.

Here are a few things in the works:
* Kadish Tolesa theme -
The Bevin party and decorations from last year were a big success. Following suggestion from attendees, we are going to choose an Age every year as the overall theme. This year is Kadish Tolesa. Feel free to use this as a starting place for art or other things you might do for Mysterium. But don’t be afraid to do your own thing – everything is welcome.

* Trip to Mall Of America and MagiQuest -
The Mall of America is close by with their newest MagiQuest location. A bunch of us will be heading to MagiQuest, and you are invited. MagiQuest is not your thing? Come with us and browse the Mall of America with fellow explorers.
(Did we mention that there’s an entire amusement park inside of the Mall?)

* What Would Atrus Do and Marker Missions -
These favorites from the past few Mysteriums will be returning. Team up to build gizmos from Atrus’ spare parts, or search for Markers with your friends.

* Fan Presentations -
A core Mysterium event is always the presentations from fans. We’ll be looking for fans and fan groups to come and share what they are doing and get other people involved.

* Puzzle Decathalon -
We’ll have several puzzles released all throughout the weekend for people to gnaw on in those quiet moments.

* Fan Displays –
Bring your Myst and D’ni themed art and projects to show off. Illustrations, poetry, whatever else. Also, we’ll have a ‘paper faces’ display for those who can’t be with us.

* More as we work it out!

What can you do to help?
Volunteer!
Mysterium is looking for volunteers to help run various events during the gathering, as well as help with running errands and other various tasks. Let us know if you are going to be there and are interested.

Hold your own event or presentation!
Do you have an event for Mysterium? Maybe a party idea, or a presentation or workshop? Let us know! We’re hoping to see a variety of activities, from presentations to workshops to games.

Mysterium is fast approaching and planning is on-going.

Time to start sharpening those pencils to come up with this years’ t-shirt and Official Mysterium Logo!

Due to the positive response from the Bevin decorations at last year’s event, we’ve decided to incorporate another Age into our decorations’ theme this year.
